Coincidence?

::Props to Diesel from Hawksquawk for the Links::

Here's a couple of links to some stories
read all of them and see if you think it's all a coincidence

also I think it's kinda funny how little has been reported on this in the mainstream media.

Coincidence? Conspiracy?

The silence of mainstream media is deafening!

now watch Hollywood come up with some kind of watered down movie version paralleling this story in a few years.

Festivus!

Festivus! The holiday for people like us! A FESTIVUS FOR THE REST OF US!!!

I first heard about this from watching Seinfeld as a kid about 10 years ago.

"The origins of the Festivus celebration can be dated back to one man's refusal to conform to the increased commercialism and consumerism which has saturated the December holiday season."

For more info on the origin click HERE

ELEMENTS of FESTIVUS

Festivus Pole
An aluminum pole is used to celebrate this holiday. The pole was chosen apparently in opposition to the commercialization of highly decorated Christmas trees, because it is "very low-maintenance," and good "Strength to Weight Ratio."

Airing of Grievances
At the beginning of the Festivus dinner, each participant tells friends and family of all the instances where they disappointed him or her that year.

Festivus Dinner

"The original Festivus meal consisted of spaghetti (or what might have passed for meatloaf) covered in a red sauce. But established custom aside, it can consist of whatever you want to eat (so long as it never wore feathers)."

Feats of Strength
"After the dinner, the head of the family tests his or her strength against one participant of the head's choosing. Festivus is not considered over until the head of the family has been pinned to the ground. A participant is allowed to decline to attempt to pin the head of the family only if they have something better to do instead."

Burn After Reading

So I read about this in my homie's blog so when my compadre and I went to get our Sunday ritual movie I had this in mind, and just so happens to be a big ass poster in the front window...It was a sign lol literally

I enjoyed it, Brad Pitt played a character you typically wouldn't expect him to play and it really stood out to me.

If you like Coen Bros. movies definitely check this out!

Some of you, and I will put money on this...will probably hate this film.

::spoiler warning::

If you read the back of the DVD or any synopsis its going to tell you something about CIA and spy stuff and wacky/interesting characters getting into some crazy things and it does its really more of a Parody of spy movies. But to strip this movie down to its bare bones it's about a lady who saw herself as "disabled" and "grotesque"(See Garland Thompson). She doesn't see herself as the acceptable norm of society. She goes in desperation mode and seeks out money in order to get the alterations needed for her to become "normal."

Slumdog Millionaire

Catching this movie tonight with my partner in crime I will update later after I get home

AdiOs for now

::UPDATE::
SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE
Anyways we went up all the way to Cheshire Bridge Road to catch it at the theater there

WOW pretty good movie, I definitely enjoyed it. Its a typical love story under all the action and back story within the movie, though it was a bit predictable. The thing that sticks out on my mind is how the movie was shot and framed. Lots of angles and the lines and colors in the shots really stood out for me. Also establishing shots were pretty, If ya check out the movie, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Also M.I.A. has a couple of tracks in the movie, but the one that sticks out is "O Saya" ft. AR Rahman...

I think its pretty dope download it HERE

Emmanuelle Chriqui

Pronounce it like this (SHReeKeY)
She first caught my eye in the movie Waiting, but she also played Mrs. Chess in Cadillac Records. None of her other movies really stick out to me, besides those two, but she has been in quite a few films like the god awful In the Mix (w/ Usher enough said), 100 girls (not bad), Snow day, and the even more god awful Zohan. She was also on Entourage, but I never really got into that show.

Shes Canadian, but of Morroccan descent, as young as she looks, shes getting up there in age (born 1977).

Another Movie filled weekend

Now I am no film expert or film buff, but I have taken a few film classes and I love using what I learned in those classes and picking apart films and then discussing them on the drive the home. Its like our own little weekend ritual.

Friday Night/Saturday Morning

Okay after a friend's grad party we were desperate for a movie, but everything was closed at 1 am so our resort was Wal-Mart's $1 rental machine...We picked up 2 flicks, I got "Re-Cycle" and She got "An American Crime."

We didn't even bother watching "Re-Cycle" mainly b/c it was in japanese and subtitled and We didnt want to bother. Basically threw away a dollar here.

But "An American Crime" was good. It wasn't like a masterpiece or anything like that film wise, but it was a very heart felt story, I wanted to punch Denys' laptop screen as we were watching it and I LOVED IT!

It's based on a true story about a trial on this evil bitch who abused a child. It has Ellen Page starring as Sylvia Likens, and you can google/youtube her story and you'll get a good idea of what this film is about. Now if you know me, then you know I love sick sad movies and this is definitely one of them.

NOW on Sunday

After having Lunch at one of our usual Sunday spots we had to catch another flick, we ended up seeing "Cadillac Records"

This movie was really enjoyable, I thought the casting director did a superb job picking the actors and actresses in their roles. Also the whole cast did great portraying their characters...EVEN Beyonce, yes that's right Beyonce did a pretty good job, even though she had her moments where I could see she kinda lost Character and we saw a little Sasha Fierce coming through. But her scene in the restaurant I think was powerful. Mos Def as Chuck Berry and Eamonn Walker as Howlin' Wolf were perfect...also the guy that played Little Walter was also good, we later found out the actor was from "thats so Raven" he's gonna look familiar when you see this movie LOL.

This movie was a little short, I wish they could have made it longer and went a little deeper, but nonetheless this movie was really enjoyable and entertaining. I loved the older people in the theater with us, they were all laughing and giggling as we were watching the movie. It was like they had a piece of their childhood/teenaged years back and they were re-living it. I wish when we get older and we somehow are still doing this little Sunday ritual we'd be like these nostalgic movie goers, except instead of a movie about Cadillac Records, we'll catch a movie about Ruthless Records (inside joke) It's All Good!

Really It is

Snuggie!

So after the movies Saturday night, I went home and watched infomercials till like 4AM. The one that caught my eye is the SNUGGIE, the blanket with sleeves! I am so getting one, I'm giving these out for XMAS lol most definitely. Keep yourself warm even without me.

peep the infomercial below

Check out their official website HERE

Christian Serratos

There was a bright spot in the movie Twilight, Christian Serratos. Now she had a minor role in the film, basically she was just one of the students in the highschool the main characters went to. She played a nerdy chick with glasses, a camera and was the god awful asian guy's prom date.

I have a thing for chicks with glasses and the camera is definitely a plus

she's a youngin' born in 1990 (she's legal). For more info on her check out her IMDB profile HERE
